We’re building community power to make freedom of movement a reality for all. We work at the intersection of disability justice, prison abolition, and immigration through cutting-edge legal strategies, vanguard community organizing, and policy advocacy. We specialize in deportation defense.
Immigrants in deportation proceedings have avenues to lawful status, and we're here to advocate for them. Pangea’s cutting-edge, free or low cost, immigration legal services have a nearly 100% success rate, often setting legal precedent.
We build immigrant and asylee community power for long-term systems change.
Our immigrant and asylee clients and their communities become member leaders in Pangea’s advocacy and organizing work because we believe that the people most impacted by injustice hold the key to their own liberation.
Since 2013, we have reached over 50,000 community members to:
Win over 3,000 complex legal cases that set legal precedent and catalyze narrative shifts for im/migrant justice.
Create the first 24/7 hotline for immigrants at risk of deportation, and support the creation of over 40 hotlines across the country.
Close three detention centers.
Pass legislation to end the use of private prisons in the state of California.
Pass legislation in three counties to end their collaboration with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Co-found Project ANAR to train hundreds of volunteer attorneys who collectively filed more than 1,000 applications for Afghans in the wake of the 2021 humanitarian crisis. Pangea then supported project ANAR to become its own organization by and for Afghan people.
Co-found the Disability & Immigrant Justice Coalition, working in partnership with disability justice organizers and community leaders to create programs and advocate for the specific needs of disabled immigrant people.
Launch the Asylee Legal Empowerment Project, where we train asylees to represent themselves in court and win.
